About this Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Level 3 Software Engineer (SWE) to join our innovative team. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex software systems to meet dynamic mission requirements. The successful candidate will work on operational data flows, exploratory data analysis, and improvements to data flow processing and distribution. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with mission-focused customers and technical teams, leveraging cutting-edge tools and methodologies to drive impactful results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications.
  • Design, develop, and debug new software solutions or modify existing ones to add functionality or resolve defects.
  • Create, sustain, and troubleshoot complex operational data flows, including data storage, transport, management, security, and compliance.
  • Utilize Apache NiFi to process and distribute data; develop custom NiFi processors as required.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to clean, enrich, transform, and format raw data to meet operational requirements.
  • Devise methods to improve data flow processing, distribution, and reliability.
  • Perform quality control on team deliverables and recommend improvements to documentation and development standards.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with operational specifications.
  • Coordinate with system engineers and hardware engineers to address performance requirements and interface challenges.

Key Technologies and Skills

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Linux CLI.
  • Experience creating, managing, and troubleshooting complex operational data flows.
  • Expertise with Apache NiFi canvas and custom NiFi processor development.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, including Ansible (Puppet and SaltStack also acceptable).
  • Proficiency with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence).

Desired Skills

  • General knowledge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, including compute, network, memory, and storage components.
  • Familiarity with corporate data flow processes and tools.
  • Understanding of corporate data security and compliance policies.
  • Experience writing scripts using Bash/Python.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree: Computer Science or related discipline, with five (5) years of experience in software engineering for programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science or related discipline, with seven (7) years of experience in software engineering for programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • No Degree Alternative: Nine (9) years of experience in software engineering for programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph 
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Compensation Range: $155,000.00 - $205,000.00 *
*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
